Kaupapa Māori research affirms that Māori draw on a rich legacy of ancestral knowledge, philosophy, and theory to address contemporary challenges and guide future generations. This collection of papers reflects its origins in resistance to a colonial education system that failed Māori and reforms that threatened to deepen inequities. Grounded in the wisdom of tūpuna, kaupapa Māori research is driven by the belief that Māori knowledge systems offer solutions to the issues facing Māori communities and can be used to create meaningful transformation.
